Solidarity is at the heart of the event

Run and help those who need it

Since the beginning of its time, the UTMB® has always wanted to associate the energy of the event with a spirit of solidarity. Our mountain culture places an importance on human relations and mutual aid. We are impregnated with the famous spirit of 'roped partners' and animated by this willingness to help each other to gain personal victories : to get over a difficult moment, to fight against an illness or to help children grow up and flourish.

So the UTMB® has developed several ways of collecting donations for partner charitable associations. The organisation supports 5 associations directly through a system of contributions made during registration for each of its 5 events. Besides, 140 SOLIDARITY RACE-BIBS are granted to runners who wish to support one of our partner associations by donating 2000€, paid directly or through sponsors in order to raise the sum. Finally, each runner can, if they wish to do so, take advantage of their participation to support an association of their choice by being sponsored so as to show their support for the organisation.

The UTMB® has create strong links with the associations they support, following the implementation of the actions and favouring human exchange between the runners, the organisers and the associations.

Fondation maladies rares

French Foundation for rare diseases

By wearing a solidarity race-bib in the colours of the Foundation for rare diseases you are giving the hope of a treatment to people affected by rare diseases.

97% of rare diseases do not have the chance of being treated today. It is, therefore,  urgent to take action to accelerate the the research and development of new treatments.
This is the Foundation for rare diseases' main objective. Since 2012, we have accompanied and financed 267 research projects.

The solidarity race-bibs are the opportunity to join us and to be concretely involved with us, rising to the challenge of fighting rare diseases.
A major challenge and a true race against the clock which concerns us all.

"Rare diseases are rare, but rare disease patients are numerous!"

Three million of French people, 30 million people in Europe, 300 million worldwide, half of which are children, are now affected by one of the 7,000 rare diseases! Rare diseases are not exceptional; they even are a major public health challenge.

Through our participation to UTMB®, this extreme sport challenge, we have chosen to represent the obstacle course that patients have to face in their daily life.

The UTMB® challenge of Foundation for rare diseases for 3 years

What a great team !
For 3 years, the 80 runners supporting the Foundation for rare diseases were involved in the sporting challenge of the UTMB® : amongst them, 3 members of the Foundation. Find us on facebook

Equity, enthusiasm, respect for oneself and others, commitment, SOLIDARITY : all of these strong values shared by the team of the French Foundation for rare diseases and by UTMB®, this demanding challenge.

Thank you all for your courage and engagement!

In 2018, join our team and experience this formidable human adventure!

We are all motivated to make the research on rare diseases advance more quickly. Running with a solidarity race-bib which profits the Foundation for rare diseases, is to give a much deeper sense to your engagement. !
