Founded in 1937, Plan International is a development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls through education and employment skills training. Plan works in 56 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and helps around 34 million girls and boys

76,9 % of the young people in the world who are neither employed nor enrolled in a school or training program are women. Equality between girls and boys is the corner stone of our programs.

We are grateful for the support of our amazing sports ambassador Nathalie Mauclair, double trail World Champion and 2015 UTMB edition winner. (https://www.plan-international.fr/blog/2018/04/nathalie-mauclair-notre-nouvelle-ambassadrice-sportive)

A few words on our UTMB® experience from last year:

2019 UTMB edition was a wonderful sports and human adventure. Our participants Ann, Staffan, Emmanuel, Thomas, Samuel, François, Javier, Andrew and Peter came from all over the world to achieve an exceptional sporting and solidarity challenge! There was a very friendly atmosphere amidst our sports ambassador Nathalie Mauclair (2015 UTMB winner) and Plan International volunteers who came to run a booth during the event.

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for defending our cause, which is equality between boys and girls!

2021 Project supported by the solidarity bibs

Since 2017, Plan International France has been working in the Atakora region, in Northern Benin, to fight against school drop-out in rural areas. We enable children and young people to go back to school and have access to inclusive and quality education.

In Benin, although primary school enrolment has made significant progress over the last ten years, too many children drop out before secondary school. Thus, 55% of girls and 47% of boys in Atakora do not go to school. For traditional and community reasons, it is more difficult for girls to access the education system than boys. However, every year spent in school by a girl increases her future income by 10 to 20%.

This programme promotes the rights of girls to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to build their future. Important awareness-raising work is also carried out with the community and national and regional institutions that play a key role in the process of changing the status of women in society.

Thanks to your support, we will be able to support access to primary school for 34,000 children (50% of whom are girls) by improving school monitoring, reception conditions in schools, teacher training and community awareness of education.

At every edition of the UTMB® since 2017, Plan International teams are sincerely moved by the courage and solidarity of the runners who have chosen to support our actions. We wish them good luck in preparing for their future achievements.

Run for Plan International, support education for all!
