UTMB® Mont-Blanc 2022: key registration figures
On January 26th at 10am, more than 22 000 runners from all over the world were waiting impatiently for the results to be published on the UTMB® website while only 10,000 places were available. This resulted in a number of 33 000 unique visitors to the digital platform on that same day.
• 22'853 entry applications
Despite of the pandemic situation, this is the 3rd highest number of entry applications in UTMB history.
• An extremely competitive event
590 athletes (W/M) have elite status (UTMB® Index > 800 for men and UTMB® Index > 650 for women)
• More than 100 nations represented
106 nationalities represented in 2022 vs 95 in 2021.
The opening of registration is undeniably one of the most thrilling moments of each new edition of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc. The enthusiasm for the UTMB® races has grown so much over the years that the UTMB® organization had to create in 2008 an entry process governed by a system of qualifying points and a lottery. For those runners who gain entry into the races, this moment marks the beginning of the adventure.
Key figures to better understand the lottery.
UTMB® 195% sold out - 4 486 applicants
CCC® 301% sold out – 5728 applicants
OCC 484% sold out - 5812 applicants
TDS® 138% sold out - 2200 applicants
PTL® registration upon presentation of a file – 280 applications
MCC 100% sold out
YCC 66% sold out - 199 applications, so it is still possible to register for this race dedicated to younger athletes.
The 15 nations that you will most likely meet at the start line
- United Kingdom
- United States
France, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom are still in the top 4 positions of the most represented nations ranking. The United States have dethroned China and Japan, which occupied the 5th and 6th position for several years. China disappears from the top 15 with only 90 applicants. North America is now ahead of Asia with 1283 runners. Given the number of applications, the lottery is carried out via computer. It is carried out nation by nation and race by race.
